Feeling good....

My scary tumble last night over the fence has not seemed to effected my back. I am feeling pretty good.. Legs are alittle sore but that is not from the fall... It is from all the running. Talking about falls.. How are you feeling Doug??? I reviewed the video last night.. We didn't get your graceful swan dive on video.. Just the aftermath. It really look like Jamie was going to jump on you.... I can't wait to share the video.. I will try my hardest to get it up on Sunday...

Side note.. really looking forward to this weekends teen trip to a camp.. Sounds like alot of fun.. Tune in for some good storys..

Sorry. I forgot the video this morning. I apologize. Instead here is a little get to know you questionaire.

How many Brothers and Sisters do you have?

Where were you born?

Where did you grow up? or the majority of your young years?

How many different states have you lived in?

What is your favorite season of the year?

Music Spotlight

Today I am going to do spot light on a music group that I have know since it's beginning. Lost and Found is a contempory accapella group that my brother Matt and three of his friends from college started. I was privileged to travel with, and man the soundboard for them one summer. The group has changed over the years as people leave and new people come in but, they have always had a great message and have been blessed with extreme vocal percision. As you can tell they are a jovial group. Check out their site. Matt is the webmaster and designer for the site. If you read the guestbook you will notice off the wall comments and playful banter. You will also find mp3's of several of their songs to download and listen to. Enjoy.

NO MORE CURTAINS!

"...the curtain of the temple was torn in two.."(Matt. 27:51)

The annual event always drew a crowd. the priest would solemnly ascend the temple steps, cradling in his arms a lamb. As the people waited outside, he would pass through the great curtain and enter the Holy of Holies. He would kill the lamb upon the altar and pray that the blood would appease God. The sins would be rolled back. And the people would sigh with relief.

A great curtain hung as a reminder of the distance between God and man. It was a deep chasm that no one could breach. Man on is island... quarantined because of sin.

God could have left it like that. He could have left the people isolated. He could have washedhis hands of the whole mess. He could have turned back, tossed in the towel, and started over on another planet. He could have, you know.

But he didn't

God himself breached the chasm. In the darkness of an eclisped sun, he and a Lamb stood in the Holy of Holies. He laid the Lamb on the alter. Not the lamb of a preist or a Jew or a shepherd, but the Lamb of God. The angels hushed as the blood of the Sufficient Sacrifice began to fall on the golden altar. Where had dripped the blood of lambs, now dripped the blood of life.

"Behold the Lamb of God."

And then it happened. God turned and looked one last time at the curtain.

"No more." And it was torn... from top to bottom. Ripped in two.
"No more!"
"No more lambs!"
"No more curtains!"
"No more sacrifices!"
"No more separation!"
And the sun came out.

An entry from Max Lucado's on THE ANVIL.

Thankyou Lord....

rain delay....

There will be a delay on the video of last nights game. The majority of last nights footage is of people hitting. I can't get the plays made in the field by our team because I am in the field. I think that we will enlist the help of my lovely bride next week to capture some of the moments.

We played a good game last night. We won the first game and I think that we were still ahead when we called the second because of the coming storm. We held them in the last inning of the first game to get the win. I believe the margin of victory was around 3. But I am not really sure of the score. We had some great offense and defence last night. Russ was still a batting machine, he claimed that his performance wasn't up to par but, he burned the left center fielder for a in the park homerun. Lew was once again the living highlight reel. Making diving catches and throwing the runner out at first, relaying throws to Home plate for the tag, sliding into third below the tag. This is what I hope to capture next week. The video will be up sometime tonight. BBH

Getting to know you....

On the subject of getting to know you. What is your favorite story about yourself as a child that you can recall or have been told about?

I have a few. I guess that as a child I wasn't too nice if I didn't get my way or felt wronged. One instance I have been told about, when I was still in diapers I had a Tonka Truck. One of the nice big ones. One that I could ride in the bed of. On this particular day I was playing with one of the neighborhood boys, when he decided that he would take it home with him. Out raged by this I scared him off by picking up a rock over my head and yelled at him. From what I have been told, the rock was not small, it was one of those large rocks that people use for landscaping. Tammy who was witness to the incident said that she being 5 years older then me said that it was heavy to her.

The reason I like the story is the way that I envision it. A toddler in diaper with a little shirt on holding a rock twice the size of him over his head trying to protect his precious truck. I guess that I had some strength as a toddler. Were did it all go to.

Tomorrow I should have some more video of the softball game.

Friends...Make time

There isn’t much better in this life than finding a way to spend a few hours in conversation with people you respect and love. You have to carve this time out of your life because you aren’t really living without it.

Real Live Preacher, RealLivePreacher.com Weblog, August 27, 2003

If you are blessed to have friends, make the time to be with and talk with them, especially the one that you call wife/husband. There is no better way to strenghten a relationship then to just share your feelings and cares with one another. I know I need to devote more time to it.

Some pics from game day

Russ was the only one besides Levi that posed for the pictures.

Check out the fans, don't they look excited

Standing around waiting.. for what I don't know

Da da da da. (sports center)

Last night was a good night for softball. The rain before the first game and then the lightening during the first which caused everyone to clear the fields did not hamper the spirits of the ball players. We were short a couple of players and had to bring Doug Ruth out of retirement to play first. I think that Doug injoyed his time, he was very gunho, he tried to make plays that he sees in a baseball game but, I think that it slipped his mind that we are not a pro team and the second baseman is not going to cover his base everytime he moves away from the plate. (love you Doug, your first hit should have been fair.) Next year we will work on those plays.. In the bottom of the seventh inning we were down one. Jason and his wife both got on base. Levi popped one up in field. With one down Russell placed a nice shot in right center and we won the game. The second game was a mercy we won I believe 12 to 2. Russell was unstopable last night. He was a placing, going opposite field, burning the outfielder, hitting machine. I am not the book keeper, but if you were to check I believe Russ batted 1000 last night. Even if he hadn't won I would have had a great time. Our blue casted Owen called balls and strikes for both teams and had quite a time hasselling and beening hasselled by both teams. Keep up the good work Owen.

The Fans. Boy did we have some fans come last night. The bleachers were full. After the game we even went to Dairy Queen for more fellowship. Check out some pics from last night.

Tune in tomorrow

Tune in tomorrow for highlights and high jinks from tonights game. That is if it doesn't get rained out.... I hope to have some pics also...

Message board has returned.

Due to demand. the message board has returned.. Just remember to keep your popup blocker on.

Fantasy football is coming up. And I can't wait. Not only will it be a fun time of fellowship with a bunch of good guys, but it will be an outlet for my competive alter ego during the fall. Yesterday one of the fellows from the IT department came down and installed access on my computer so that I can start building a database for our research group. He is a fellow fantasy football coach who runs his own league. His league is pretty similar to ours except they involve money and some rules we don't use yet. But, I came into the office to talk with him as he installed the software, some how the topic of FF came up and he gave me some great info for the draft. I am excited. I can't wait. If I do this right I will have a great team... that is if the projections made in the assumptions are correct. Until we meet in the gridiron...

keep it right... right here for another entertaining blog.. hopefully. BBH

Start with a high point

Start you day with a high point... That is a theme of the workout that I am currently doing. It is also something that I am going to apply to my spiritual life. I started today with a 20 min bike ride. As I was riding I listened to Relient K. (it was low enough that I could hear traffic coming from behind. plus at 5:30 people have to turn thier lights on) And it occured to me. Starting my day out with a high point in phyiscal exercise is suppose to give me strength and energy to make it through the day, how much more will time with God. I now plan on having a daily devotional as well as my daily workout in the morning. I am pumped by the way that God will work in my life. He has already blessed me so much how much more will he bless me the closer I come to him.. Are you ready for today?

New Feature.

I have put a tag board on the right hand column where my profile use to be. Here people can leave messages and comments that will not be just attached to the specific post. Have fun.. Let me know what you think..

Now don't get carried away...

Peter was sharp,
He kept his distance from Jesus.
"I'll stay close enough to see him," Peter
reasoned.
"But not too close, or I might get caught."

Good thinking, Peter.
Don't get too involved-it might hurt.
Don't be too loyal-you might get branded.
Don't show too much concern-they'll crucify
you, too.

We need more men like you, Peter.
Men who keep religion in its place.
Men who don't stir the water.
Men who reek with mediocrity.

That's the kind of man needs, yessir.
One who knows how to keep his distance.
"Now, I'll pay my dues and I'll come once a
week,
but...well...you can get carried away, you know"

Yes, you can get carried away...
up a hill
to a cross
-and killed.

Peter learned a lesson that day-a hard lesson.
It is better never to have followed Jesus, than
to have followed him and denied him.

Mark these words-
Follow at a distance and you'll deny the
Master. Period.
You won't die for a man you can't touch.
Period.
But stay near to him, in his shadow.....
You'll die with him, gladly.

Max Lucado "on The Anvil"

Get close to Jesus.

I am trying to get it running again but I haven't the extra funds. There might be a little donation of money for your space..

Thanks for your help. BBH

What a night

It was a good double header tonight. We had a come from behind victory in the first game score I am not sure I believe that we won by three runs. The last game we lost in the last two innings. The final score was 19 to 11. The team we played, EV Free, could really just drop the ball in the holes. We on the other hand hit well but there always seemed to be a glove in the way.

Sports center. da da da da

Lew hit a towering homerun out of the park as well as two in the park that he worked for.

Levi and Russ connected on a relay to throw a batter out at second.

Yours truely avoided a near collision with #2 to catch a fly ball in the outfield but, was later brunt by a long ball. (I will only give error reports on yours truely, it just isn't very uplifting to report others downfalls. I have done it in the past but I repent and ask for forgiveness.)

Don't miss next weeks exciting game. It is much better in person.

A work out

"When you overcome resistance, you create the power to continually reach higher."

A quote taken from a book that I have been reading, Body for Life. The book is of course about working your physical muscles. But the quote has significants to your spiritual and mental life too. As I embark on this quest for a healthier body, I am also going to be working on my spiritual muscles too.

Have you lifted you spiritual "weights"? I have gotten lazy but I am turning that around. Have a great workout today.. BBH

Ditto....

I know that Amy already posted this subject but I wanted to post "MY VIEWS".

I wanted to let everyone know that I had a good weekend too.. I really missed all of you on Sunday and Monday.. Wished I could be here but, you know, I have to spend time with my family some time. It was a blast.. Amy had a lot of firsts. First time to a water park, first time down a big water slide. First time to the Drive-in Movies. I was really proud of her braving the water slide, she is alittle scared of heights and very claustrophic (this was a fully inclosed slide). When we got back to Michigan we had to go golfing.. As you can see in the picture here. Amy is lining up to smack the golf ball a good one. (Amy didn't know that I had brought the camera.. I have some video too. I am going to hvae to learn how to post it)

Tonight we had a good small group.. If you are reading this and are not apart of a small group... Get in one. you will not regret it.

Thursday night softball

Last night was the weekly softball game. It was a good night. We lost both games but, I had a great time. We were mercied the first game 15 to 4, and called the last game in the sixth inning because of the threatening rain. The top of the sixth we were tied but gave up atleast 4 runs before the game was called. (the data is deemed true but not guaranteed.. I just play I don't keep the book.)

I myself felt like I had a good game. Hit a homerun that was called a double, fielded pretty well (had one that popped out somehow) so I am pleased. The HIGHLIGHT of the game for me was actually in the warm up. I threw with Derrick Lewandowski. (sorry if I mispelled it) The man knows how to throw a ball. The pocket felt and looked like it was stretching. My glove will not be the same.. Everytime the ball hit my glove there was that satisfying loud pop that you just have to experience for yourself. So I tried to pick up some good habits by watching his form. I don't know if I threw any faster or harder. But it was a great workout.. thanks Lew.

In everything you do today try your best for the glory of the Lord.. you will feel great knowing that you accomplished your task
